I need your help!
My name is Mr Garcia and I am a teacher at Metabolic Magic High School. My students have been talking. After participating in some classes offered by the folks at the Nutrition Factory, they’ve been wondering if the food offered at the school is the best option. Some students say they don’t have very much energy after eating a burger and fries from the cafeteria, or snacks from the vending machine. Others say they don’t like to eat in the cafeteria at all because the food doesn’t seem healthy.
Yesterday, a group of students came to me and asked if I could help them prepare a presentation to give to the superintendent to petition for healthier food at school. That’s where you come in. We want to create a healthy menu for our cafeteria. But what do we put on the menu that is healthy and will give our students energy for the day? Please help us!
Sincerely,
Mr. Garcia
Assignment:
Foods provide us with energy. But how? Through macronutrients called carbohydrates, protein, and fat. In this case study, you’ll learn all about these three nutrients, why they are important and where to find them. With this new knowledge, help the students of MM High School plan a healthy menu to provide them with energy for the day!
